Superb Stucco Building Soft Washing & Efflorescence Removal In Tuscaloosa, AL

Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa, AL hired us to soft wash their painted stucco church building with efflorescence removal on some parts of the building where efflorescence was starting to build up. The primary reason for soft washing a structure, especially a painted stucco structure, is to use a low pressure cleaning method that will not damage the stucco substrate underneath the paint. Stucco is a relatively soft building material that can be easily damaged when exposed to high pressure water.

Efflorescence, on the other hand is a white, powdery, or fluffy substance that forms on the surface of porous materials like concrete, brick, and stone. It occurs when water dissolves salts within the material and then evaporates, leaving the salts behind.

The efflorescence present on this job was coming up through cracks in the stucco substrate and painted surface. To remove efflorescence, a mild acid is applied using a pump up sprayer and allowed to dwell on the surface for a specific amount of time. Then, depending on how bad the buildup is, it will then be agitated using a acid-proof stiff-bristled brush and rinsed off using medium-low pressure.

This customer was completely blown away at the results and extremely happy that we were able to get all of this done in time for their Easter Sunday service.
